The walks for Sunday are ready!

There are three different routes you could walk.

The Rhenosterbos route, the Fish Eagle Forest where you can listen to the birds while you your dog takes a swim in the Nelson’s Creek and the another one that goes through a small forest along the river. So bring your friends, family and dogs for a wonderful day in the country side.

Wine Dine and Dog Day - SUNDAY 17th NOVEMBER 2013

Nelsons Creek

Come help us raise funds for an animal welfare organisation.

Nelson Wine Estate - Sunday 17th November 2013.

The Nelson Wine Estate will again be open to the public on the17th of November 2013 for the 3rd Annual Wine Dine & Dog Day. Situated in the foothills of the Paarl Mountain adjacent to the R44 and in beautiful gardens this is the perfect place to spend a day in the country supporting a worthy cause.

The Wine Dine and Dog Day is an event for the whole family including your best friend.  Dog lovers are welcome to join in the fun even if they do not have a dog of their own.

The event, dedicated to man’s best friend, kicks off at sunrise with either a dog walk or a run on the farm. The courses, over various picturesque routes depending on the level of fitness of entrants and their canine friends, will however be open throughout the day with volunteers manning water points along the routes for those that prefer to start later.

One of the routes follows a Rhenosterbos route with magnificent mountain views, while the other traverses farm dams and a Fish Eagle Forest where you can listen to the birds while you your dog takes a swim in the Nelson’s Creek.

There will be a large variety of dog events, including the South African Dog Jumping Championships sponsored by Meradog; dog dancing, obedience training, and search and rescue demonstrations.

Visitors can also participate in a host of fun dog competitions with lots of prizes for prettiest and ugliest pooch, look-a- likes, etc and the only cross country competition for dogs and their owners in South Africa.

All gate monies and entry fees for the Wine Dine and Dog Day are donated to animal welfare.

As the name implies, there will also be delicious food and wine on offer for those who want to laze beside the pool with their dogs and picnic in the tranquil atmosphere on this lovely wine estate. Live Music will be provided by Newton a brilliant local musician, who is himself an avid a dog lover.

Remember to bring your sun block, beach umbrellas and a blanket or chairs to sit on.

Entrance costs R30.00 per adult and R10.00 per child and this fee includes the fun walk. Dogs come free but can bring along a toy, blanket, or food for their less fortunate canine friends.

Please note that only friendly dogs that are on leads will be allowed to enter and you will have to ‘scoop the poop’. Bags and bins will be provided.

This is a unique event that will delight the senses of city dwellers and a must for the whole family - especially the family dog.
